Protecting Iraqi and Afghani Children

These two photos below, which appeared on the front page of the May 27, 2007 morning’s edition of The New York Times, shows an Iraqi boy taking cover behind a U.S. soldier as civilians fled the sound of gunshots following a suicide bombing the day before in central Baghdad that killed at least 21 people and wounded 66 others.Photo taken by Khalid Mohammed, AP
